10-10-2010 中環SOHO

SoHo
Located in the vibrant heart of Hong Kong, SoHo is known for its exotic range of cuisines, chic bars, and upscale boutiques. These up-market international restaurants and bars specialise in different cuisines including: French, Nepalese, Italian, Mexican and Indian etc. It is located along Staunton Street, Elgin Street and Shelley Street, next to the world's longest covered escalator, making SoHo one of the city's most popular locations to visit. The name is derived from its location: South of Hollywood Road, and it arguably extends up to and including Robinson Road.
Buildings in the Soho area are a mix of commercial/residential, with the commercial businesses on the lower floors, and residential above the First Floors. Around the same time the Mid Levels Escalator was built, a few foreigners started to move into the area, taking up both commercial premises and renting flats. At the time the flats were cheaper than other expat areas in Hong Kong, and only a few minutes' walk from the business district.

Central-Mid-levels escalators
The Central-Mid-levels escalators (中環至半山自動扶梯) in Hong Kong is the longest outdoor covered escalator system in the world. The entire escalator system covers over 800 metres in distance and elevates over 135 metres from bottom to top. It was constructed in 1993 to provide a better commute by linking Central and Western District on Hong Kong Island.
The escalator runs through Cochrane Street between Queen's Road Central and Lymdhurst

Terrace. Then it runs along Shelley Streer(些利街).

How to get there:
MTR Central Station, Exit D2, walk along Queen's Road Central towards The Center. Then take the Central – Mid-Levels Escalator and get off at Staunton, Shelley or Elgin streets.
